SUMMER SOLSTICE 2010

The Celt in me sees the Summer solstice as the auspicious time to launch this blog;  I do so with 3  images taken just now from the sea cliffs at Mizzen Head near our West Cork studio; it carries all the fascination of GAIA; we were mesmerised by the quiet beauty of this deep cove,  surrounded by high cliffs and protected from the white water of the Ocean from which we kayaked in , within sight of the Fastnet.   This is only possible in the glorious weather we are enjoying , as the Azores High has skipped over the jetstream  and the roiling ocean has calmed enough to kayak into a spot  usually filled by a thunderous  surf   . Below us in the stillness were large sleek black ‘coal’ fish , a sub species of Cod , in the swirling kelp  . The magma interfused with the sedimentary layers in a fabulous array of colours and dappled light had that animist quality of good life drawing or Gaian heartland.

Here the heave of the magma and geo pressure has driven the sedimentary layers into tilted planes .

The Maw of unknowing is nonetheless

an access to the inspiration of magnificent

Gaian form langauge .
